18th June – MK Parkrun #2 a PB!!!

Published June 18, 2011 by fitflo

I ran MK parktun this morning for the 2nd time, along with Abradypus and Dave of 2011miles. As ever it was lovely to spend time with other athoners, and I am now looking forward to the Juneathon picnic even more!

So the parkrun – well yay me – I got a PB! Not quite as much of a cut as I was hoping for but still better than last time. Here are the stats:

Mk parkrun 15th Jan: 37m 43s

Finsbury park run 12th Feb: 34m 51s

MK parkrun today: 33m 56s – see Abradypus’ blog today for a quite frankly hideous pic of me post-run (so bad I’m not putting in the link again!).

Louise stayed over last night and apart from bringing me some ferrero rocher (nom nom nom) she also brought great wisdom in the form of recomending apps (battersea dogs home – download it now and you will want one!) and google reader knowledge. Although I had added Juneathon to my reader I didn’t really understand what it did and more importantly didn’t make the connection that it meant I could READ BLOGS AT WORK!! Oh Dear….

Post run, she also pointed out that I only have 3 weeks until my next 10k and 14 weeks until my first half marathon – eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek. I still don’t feel I have regained the level of fitness that I had pre-holiday, today is a fine example of how it has dropped as in April I was able to run 4 miles without walking, yet today I slowed to a walk at the 3.5K mark and again at 4.5k. So I have a fair amount of work to do, starting with finding a plan that I can adapt to my needs, if anyone has a good 12 week beginner/intermediate half marathon training plan please share…

    • Battersea app – really! L:ots of piccies of cute kittens and puppies and cats and dogs that need rehoming. And you are alway welcome to stay over if you fancy doing MK park run some time!

  • Tiddles is back at Battersea for the second time, through no fault of her own. A true rescue cat, she is looking for a home where no major lifestyle changes are anticipated…

    • Ah I’m gutted I didn’t know that before hand – Louise and I saw you in the cafe downloading all the info we would have come over to say hi! Hopefully I’ll see you at the next one.

  • Battersea dogs home ap -check. All the web sites for buying puppies -check (my kids call it Mum’s puppy porn!).
    Well done today.
14 weeks to when? oops that means me too – time to start a plan for HM! We can do it!!

  • Well done on your PB and good luck for your half-marathon training. I think when I did mine I got a training plan from the Runners World website which was quite good, well I managed to finish the race anyway! 😉
And that Battersea dogs app sounds dangerous – would really like a dog…
