Had a great day out with my bro on Friday – since he became a Dad and got all grown up we have very intense conversations (we don’t see each other much one on one) where we discuss life, the universe, Star Trek and everything.
We were talking about running and weight loss and life in general. He’s one of these people who has a 5, 10 and 15 year plan, and a few years ago he lost about 4 stone and has kept it off since. He asked me what I thought was stopping me from achieving my weight loss and running goals, and I said work got in the way (he said get up earlier), that I was too tired after work (try doing a full day on 3 hours sleep then running was his response) and that I just didn’t have time (you have to make time). Eventually, when I’d run out of excuses, he told me what he thought.
Bro: It seems to me that you spend more time thinking, researching, and blogging about it than you do actually doing it! Just get your trainers on and go for a run.
Me: So you’re saying you think I procrastinate?
I was a little bit upset at first, then indignant. Humph, me procrastinate, how dare he!! Then I read my blog posts. And my restart Mk2 and 3 and 4, and my 20 different versions of a training plan. and the fact I have blogged more than I’ve run in the last 3 weeks.
It’s OK though. I’ll run tomorrow…
